IQNA – A Lebanese politician hailed Iran’s recent missile and drone attack on Israel, saying it shattered the illusion of the Zionist regime’s military and defense power.

Lebanese politician Jahad Zabyan

In a statement, Jahad Zabyan noted that the unprecedented attack, dubbed “Operation True Promise”, was carried out by the Iranian armed forces in response to the Israeli regime’s strike on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Damascus, Syria.

However, it achieved much more by proving that the Tel Aviv regime is incapable of defending itself on its own, he said.

Zabyan added that the operation was a turning point from different military, political and strategic aspects.

By carrying out the “Operation True Promise”, Iran sent a message about the beginning of a new era in its confrontation with Israel, he stated.

The Lebanese politician also noted that Iran used only a fraction of its military and offensive capabilities in this attack and the Israelis and their allies, especially the Americans, realized this well.

He also highlighted the impact of the Iranian strike on Israel in reducing the scope of the Zionist regime’s onslaught on the Gaza Strip, saying it could be the beginning of the end of the war on Gaza.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Zabyan criticized certain Arab countries that participated in defending Israeli against Iranian missiles and drone, saying he wished they had instead used their capabilities to prevent the continuation of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza that has killed nearly 40,000 Palestinians and left thousands more injured.

On April 1, the Israeli regime committed a terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.

Retaliating against the attack, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, has inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.

Following the reprisal, Iran both relayed the message that it viewed the matter as “concluded,” and also warned of a “bigger” response in case the regime or its allies target Iran.
